It’s that week again: Super Bowl week for our Kansas City Chiefs. We’re chasing history and a three-peat, and we could not be more excited. It’s happening!!
Now, beer is the classic go-to alcoholic beverage for Super Bowl, no doubt. But if you’re like Katie and find beer something you try to choke down without making a face, or if you want to classy up your Super Bowl party, here are some wines worth considering.
Cooper and Thief Cellarmasters Red Wine Blend, Bourbon-Barrel Aged, 2019

If you’re looking for a red wine with a punch, a big, juicy, in-your-face wine to match the energy of the Super Bowl, and a wine you can drink and just enjoy without putting a lot of thought into it, this may be for you. This is a full-bodied red wine full of overripe blackberries and black plums. It’s dark and dense and ready to crush the Eagles. It’s been aged in a bourbon barrel, which Bart feels may make it attractive to the guys at your Super Bowl party, but that also means it’s real oaky, with big vanilla flavor. This wine won’t get lost among all your Super Bowl snacks, either. In fact, it may be great with barbecue.
This wine sells for $29 at Jacob Liquor.
Philippe Girard Sancerre, 2023

Are you only here for the Super Bowl because you’re a Swiftie and want to cheer on Taylor’s boyfriend? No problem, we’ve got a wine for you, too. The internet says Taylor’s favorite wine is Sancerre, a Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley in France. French Sauv Blanc is not quite so green as New Zealand Sauv Blanc, which always smacks of green bell pepper and celery and grapefruit. This is more subtle and more, well, French. It has aromas of Meyer Lemon and ripe pineapple and even yogurt, and the Meyer lemon and citrus really comes through on the palate, as well as a mineral aspect like wet gravel after the rain. This is a nice wine, and you can channel Taylor Swift as you sit back and cheer on Travis. Maybe she’s drinking the same right now.
This wine sells for $27 at Jacob Liquor.
Graham + Fisk’s Wine in a Can, Red Wine

Lastly, if you want to feel like you’re at Arrowhead stadium itself, watching your Chiefs reach for glory, or if you simply think you should be drinking from a can at a Super Bowl party but dislike beer as much as Katie does, this is your answer. This is the wine they serve at actual Arrowhead Stadium. 🏟️ It’s full of very ripe red fruits like cherries and raspberries, along with oak flavors like vanilla. It’s simple, but it has pretty big flavor, and it goes great with sipping your wine while you scream at the TV. Feel the energy of Arrowhead itself in this one.
This sells for $4 at Jacob Liquor.
It’s Super Bowl week, friends. Time for our Chiefs to make even more history. CHIIIIIEEEEEFFFFSSSSSS!!!!!!!
