Katie reporting. I had this wine the first time when I was doing my cooling cup experiment, and I thought then that I should really put a review up. I had it again when we had family over for dinner, and at that point I knew for sure I needed to tell everyone about it! Even my sister-in-law, who like me typically prefers red wine over white, enjoyed this one. It’s just a really unique wine!

This wine comes from the same family of wines that makes Caymus. I LOVE the smell of this wine. Really put your nose in there. Doesn’t it smell lovely? This reminds me of Meyer lemon, or maybe more lemon bars or lemon cream, as it really does even have a smell of cream or yogurt. It also smells of pears and papaya and white peach, but like your traditional Sauvignon Blanc, it includes those green notes of grass or alfalfa. You can pick up all of these things on the palate as well. It has a tartness to it, but it’s also surprisingly creamy. To me, it was almost like a mix of the flavors of a Sauvignon Blanc with the mouthfeel of a Chardonnay. If you’re a Sauvignon Blanc fan, this one isn’t quite as bright and tropical as your typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but it’s fruitier than a Sancerre from France. I just think this is such a cool wine. I will definitely be having more of the Emmolo this summer.
